Jude & Zeke Day 17 – Saturday 4/10/11
I went over to the NICU this morning for the 8:30am feeding. Zeke was up first and he drained his bottle! I was so excited, he is really starting to get the hang of it. His weight it up to 5 lbs 13 oz and you can tell he is starting to fill out. We are still working on the reflux with different additives to thicken it and see which works the best for him. He had an episode in the night so he is at least 5 days from coming home. Seems so long!
Jude is doing great. He wouldn’t breastfeed but did great with the bottle. His weight is also up to 5 lbs 7 oz. He is all set for his sleep study tonight followed by his car seat study in the morning. If he passes both tests he is ready to come home. I will then room in at the NICU tomorrow night and see how I do and then take him home on Tuesday.
I went to church and then came back for the afternoon feeding. Zeke again drained his bottle and the nurse practitioner opened up his allotted feedings to every other one. I think he will continue to do great. Jude also decided he wanted to breastfeed for the first time in several days which was nice. After he was finished I was snuggling and burping him and he choked a little bit and had a slight desaturation which almost started his countdown all over again! But the stats jumped right back up so it might have been a false reading so they didn’t count it.
Here’s hoping that Jude behaves and passes his tests and will be home early this week!
